The history of the Baglio
Our home, your Sicily: a baglio that tells of tradition and passion.

Baglio del Grillo is a historic residence that has preserved the tradition and charm of the family that owns the estate for over seven generations.
Nestled in the heart of western Sicily, the Baglio dates back to 1731, when the Abbot Giovanni Ferrando, in search of new political and commercial horizons, moved to Alcamo.
He chose this charming town of Arab origins, rebuilt by Frederick II in the 13th century, as a nerve centre for economic exchanges and the cradle of a territory rich in history.
The Baglio was built on the remains of an Arab structure, in the fiefdom of Contrada Bosco Falconeria, just 5 km from Alcamo, on a territory of 1,000 hectares cultivated for centuries with wheat, vineyards and olive trees. The masseria, perfectly integrated into the landscape, preserves traces of the past, such as the ogival arch that still characterizes the oil warehouse.
Over the years, the Baglio has maintained its privileged position on a wide panorama, surrounded by vineyards that grow native vines such as Cataratto, Grillo, Insolia and other varieties of the highest quality. The fertile soil and the breezy climate give the wines produced in the Baglio unmistakable and extraordinary characteristics. Its architecture, with its rectangular "central courtyard" layout, reflects a tradition of hospitality and functionality: palmenti, warehouses, storerooms and a chapel, together with the owners' residence, tell stories of work and passion. The Baglio del Grillo is the ideal place for a stay immersed in the history and beauty of Sicily. Just a few minutes from the motorway and only twenty minutes from Falcone Borsellino Airport, it is a perfect starting point for exploring the historical, cultural and landscape wonders of western Sicily. An experience that combines the past with the present, for those seeking the charm of an authentic corner rich in history.
